Die niederländische Band Curtis ist eine der führenden Tribute-Bands von Joy Division, die den dunklen, tiefen Sound der Band weiterleben lassen.
Joy Division gründeten sich in den späten 1970er-Jahren und lösten sich im Mai 1980 nach dem Selbstmord des Frontsängers Ian Curtis offiziell auf und die verbliebenen Mitglieder, Peter Hook und Bernard Summer, erlangten als New Order ebenfalls Kultstatus.
Der Einfluss von Joy Division reicht bis in die Gegenwart und der düstere, morbide Sound hat bislang unzählige zeitgenössische Bands wie Arcade Fire, The Editors, Interpol, Ist Ist, Actors, The National und viele mehr inspiriert.
Sie werden als die Pioniere der Post-Punk-Bewegung der späten 1970er- und frühen 1980er-Jahre gesehen.
