Draußen vor der Tür

Ein Mann kommt nach Deutschland und findet: Nichts. Sein Deutschland ist fort. Hungrig, müde und verloren bewegt sich der Kriegsheimkehrer Beckmann in einem ihm fremd gewordenen Hamburg. Ihm hat der Krieg alles genommen: Glaube, Liebe und Hoffnung. Beckmanns Bitten und Fragen werden weder gehört, noch beantwortet. Und für die zahllosen Toten möchte keiner Verantwortung tragen. „Die Menschen gehen einfach an meiner Leiche vorbei“, beklagt er resigniert, und möchte lieber schlafen. Zwischen Traum und Realität ist er Heimkehrer ohne Heimat, Ehemann ohne Ehefrau, Vater ohne Kind, Kind ohne Eltern, Schauspieler ohne Bühne und Soldat ohne Krieg.
