Wie politisch ist der Jazz?
Der Musikjournalist Peter Kemper hat bei Reclam „The Sound of Rebellion – Zur politischen Ästhetik des Jazz“ veröffentlicht und hat ein Jazzbuch geschrieben, wie es noch keines gab. Erstmals wird hier die Emanzipationsgeschichte der Afroamerikaner in den letzten 100 Jahren anhand der Geschichte des Jazz nachgezeichnet.
In einem Gesprächskonzert mit dem Autor und dem Saxophonisten Tony Lakatos treten Textpassagen aus dem Buch in lebendige Wechselwirkung mit klassischen Stücken von Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus und John Coltrane und machen den Abend im Eschborn K zu einem aufregenden Erlebnis.
