Mit ihrer unnachahmlichen Stimme, welche die New York Times als "eine weiche, dunkle Altstimme mit Qualitäten, die man mit in Fässern gereiftem Bourbon oder butterweichem Leder assoziieren könnte" bezeichnet, singt Wright mit einer erhabenen Reflexion des kulturellen Gefüges von Amerika. Ihr aktuelles Live-Album, "Holding Space", nahm die Jazzsängerin 2018 im Columbia Theater in Berlin auf. "Holding Space" erschien vier Jahre später und begründete eine neue Ära in ihrem Leben: Es sollte die erste Veröffentlichung auf ihrem eigenen Label Blues & Greens Records werden. Im April 2024 - ihrem 20. Karriere-Jubiläumsjahr - ist ihr neues Studioalbum "Shadow" erschienen, aus dem sie live sicherlich auch einige Stücke spielen wird. Sollte man sich besser nicht entgehen lassen.
