Um das zeitliche Spektrum des Gewandhaus-Spielplans auf Musik auszuweiten, die weit vor 1800 entstanden ist, gestaltet das Neue Bachische Collegium Musicum eine Reihe, die sich der sogenannten »Alten Musik« widmet. Künstlerischer Leiter und Dirigent der neuen Reihe ist Reinhard Goebel, der mit fachmännischen und ebenso amüsanten Moderationen die musikalischen Zusammenhänge der Konzertprogramme anschaulich vermittelt.
