Visite o antigo Palácio Nacional da Ajuda em Portugal

O edifício do Palácio Nacional da Ajuda não foi construído sem transtornos. A estrutura que hoje se vê não é a original. O palácio foi originalmente planeado como residência de verão na primeira metade do século XVIII pelo Rei João V, mas a construção só começaria após o Paço da Ribeira, a residência real na Baixa de Lisboa, ter sido destruído por um terramoto em 1755.

O primeiro Palácio da Ajuda era feito de madeira, mas sofreu um incêndio em 1794. Depois foi construído o edifício atual mais resistente ao fogo. Até hoje são realizadas as cerimónias protocolares e de representação do Estado no palácio.

Discover the old Royal Palace of Portugal

The building of the National Palace of Ajuda didn't get built without its share of troubles. The structure you see today isn't the original. The palace was originally planned as a summer residence in the first half of the 18th century by King John V, but construction would only begin after Paço da Ribeira, the royal residence in the centre of Lisbon, was destroyed by an earthquake in 1755.

The first Palace of Ajuda was made from wood, but burned down in 1794. Then, the much more fire-proof building you see today was constructed. To this day, ceremonies for the Republic and the presidency are held in the palace.
