Networking plays a major role in doing business in the cannabis industry. We do not need to connect with everyone in the room; we need to connect with the right person for the right conversation.
 
The Northeastern Cannabis Industry Networking Dinner’s agenda is Strategic Networking. The attendee list with website and contact information is sent to everyone on the list. This enables attendees to pre-arrange connecting at the event.

5:30 - 6:30 The evening begins with a Meet & Mingle, hors’ d oeuvres and cocktails.

The topic for the evening is How to Succeed in the Cannabis Industry. Wanda James, Simply Pure, is the Keynote Speaker. 

“Wanda James is one of the most widely respected leaders in cannabis today. As a Black woman, a veteran, a former Fortune 100 executive, and now an elected official, she has spent over a decade working to remove the stigma of the plant and shedding light on the racial inequities of the cannabis industry.”

Wanda James’ political interests extend beyond Colorado. She worked on former President Barack Obama's 2008 National Finance Committee and served on Senator Kamala Harris' National Finance Committee as she ran for POTUS.

Wanda James has always been a trailblazer and a game changer. She was one of the many people who worked on the framework and the legalization of adult-use cannabis in Colorado. She worked on Colorado governor John Hickenlooper's task force for Colorado's Amendment 64. 

Wanda James and husband, Scott Durrah, were the first Black licensees in the United States to own a dispensary, grow operation, and edibles.They opened the Apothecary of Colorado, in 2009 and Simply Pure Medicated Edibles in 2010,  becoming  the largest edible medical cannabis company in Colorado. Wanda James can also claim the distinction of being the first Black Woman to own a dispensary, first to a grow operation and first to own an edible company.

Scott and Wanda opened Simply Pure Dispensary  in 2015 in the Denver LoHi neighborhood. Simply Pure Trenton, New Jersey opened in 2023 under the leadership of owner Tahir Johnson. 

In addition to the Keynote, Wanda James, the Women’s Cannabis Chamber of Commerce has curated a panel of entrepreneurs with success in the cannabis industry, for the Northeastern Cannabis Industry Networking Dinner. Each brings their perspective based on experience and knowledge on how to succeed in the cannabis industry.
